remy hair extensions hair care tips

Installation

  • Prior to installing you can choose to seal your wefts (the purpose of doing this is to minimize shedding to the best of capabilities).  You can use Fabric Fusion glue which can be purchased @ Walmart or any other craft store.
Styling and Handling
  • Handle it like it is your natural hair (with tender love and care) it can get breakage and spit ends if you manage it poorly and will cut the longevity of the hair.
  • You can use heat appliances but I recommend you use a heat protection solution just like you would use on your real hair to prevent heat damage (I hope everyone is already using this on their natural hair as well) very inexpensive @ beauty supply or grocery store.  For extensions you would want to use a very light weight one like tressemme so you don’t weigh down your hair.
  • Can you color your extensions….yes.
  • Can you bleach your extensions…yes but it is not highly recommended may shorten the life span of hair because of the harsh chemicals in bleaching.
  • When swimming it is best to plait hair in sections and detangle with a conditioner (I learned the hard way, conditioner will be your friend to combat the chlorine and salt water).

Hair Care/ shampoo/conditioning
  • To avoid product build up use products sparingly (mouse, styling products, etc).
  • De-tangle hair prior to shampooing.
  • Use a conditioning shampoo.
  • Use a light weight conditioner (motions has a light weight line).
  • If you colored your extensions you may want to do a deep conditioning treatment.
  • If you go swimming, exercise, sauna you may want to wash hair.
  • Hair looks best and fresh when washed weekly but can be washed bi-weekly or as desired.

You want to make sure you are always taking care of your natural hair when wearing extensions deep condition etc.  I would recommend you do not leave you extensions in for longer than 8 to 10 weeks.  I have seen hair get very matted and have to be cut from wearing sew- ins too long.  The remi hair can be taken out washed and re-installed.

Hope this has been helpful to some of you ladies and enjoy your hair !!!!!:)
